Grade 5: Math Review Patterns Part 1
In your notebooks define and Give an example of each term.
- Pattern
Something that grows, shrinks or repeats. Ex 2,4,6,8,10
- Pattern Rule
Operation being used in the pattern. Describe what is happening in the pattern. Ex. Start at 5 and multiply by 5 each time.
- Core
The part of a repeating pattern that repeats itself. Ex 1,2,8 1,2,8,1,2,8
- Growing Pattern
A pattern where each term is greater than the previous term. Ex. 1,2,3,4,5,6
- Shrinking Pattern
A pattern where each term is smaller than the previous term. Ex. 4,3,2,1
- Repeating Pattern
A pattern that repeats the core Ex. 2,4,6,8,2,4,6,8,2,4,6,8
- Input Output Machine
Performs an operation on a number to produce another number. Ex
